Moving Tips - Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia

When planning an out-of-state or local move, it is imperative to be prepared in order for your move to go smoothly and quickly without any problems. Ultimate Moving provides you with all the relocation information you need to have a successful move from start to finish. We offer everything from practical packing tips to moving advice to help your family adjust to your new home. Here are some step-by-step guidelines from our local Baltimore movers to make each stage of your move a success.

Before the move, get organized by creating a moving file. The file should contain important documents, records, contracts, notes, receipts and other important information that you don’t want to lose. Make sure to keep any receipts from your move so you can deduct them off your taxes at the end of the year. Keep the file with you when you move. Get rid of unwanted items before you move that will save you time and money. Ultimate Moving only charges you for the space you use, so less stuff will cost you less, not to mention give you more room in your new home.

Make a do not ship list for items that are flammable such as paints, ammunition or anything that cannot be moved by our professional movers in Baltimore. These items will need to be transported in your personal vehicle or disposed of before the move. Make an inventory list for insurance purposes. Ultimate Moving is fully insured and so are your belongings. It is a good idea to make a list just in case items are damaged, lost, or stolen during the move. Order supplies and boxes ahead of time, Ultimate Moving carries all the materials and supplies you will need to pack, box and transport your treasures safely without damage.

Make sure to unplug and properly clean all appliances and let air dry for 24 hours. Call existing and future energy, water, and phone companies so everything is ready to go. Contact the post office and have all the paperwork filled out ahead of time. Before relocating, researching your new community is a must whether you travel there or check it out online. Call the Chamber of Commerce to request a moving packet and ask your physician about health care providers in the area. Ultimate Moving will be more than happy to provide you with more tips and details if needed.

The condition your goods will arrive in at your new location depends on how well you pack and load your personal belongings.
